Self Care - It's Importance and Why?

Ever wonder why it's so easy to feel drained but so difficult to feel fully energized? Think about all the things you encounter in one day and how draining each activity is. Whether it's tasks at home, work, taking care of children, homework...the list could go on and on. But what do you do to fulfill your own needs? That's where self care comes in. Self care is anything that brings enjoyment or pleasure.


Here's a list of just a few ideas:

-Going for a walk or run

-Working out

-Taking a nap

-Reading a book

-Sitting outside enjoying a drink

-Gardening

-Talking with family or a friend

-Being by yourself


So why does it seem hard to do self care during your busy week, yet so easy to feel drained? Time! Self care involves making time to take care of you. Trust me, no one else is going to make sure your battery is full, only you can. So I challenge you to make time throughout your week, whether it starts with one day and builds to every day, to make time for you. Now I know at times we may feel selfish (and isn't that crazy considering no one feels bad for draining your energy) but it's so important. So be selfish, do something fulfilling just for you! I hope you feel refreshed, energized and overall happier that you CHOSE you.
